Jio’s infrastructure looks properly designed, right from physical layer (OFC everywhere) to application layer (all those apps from Jio) and this can makes it a perfect machine for surveillance. How ? Read on to find out
First, lets appreciate Jio for all it has done so far. Infact I am posting this from the same free Internet. 😛
So here is how Jio infrastructure can spoof/eavesdrop on us:
From MyJio App
If you are using a Jio sim, chances are high that you are using the MyJio App. So this app can
- read your text messages (SMS or MMS)
- receive text messages (SMS)
- send SMS messages
- directly call phone numbers
- read the contents of your USB storage
- take pictures and videos
- . . .and more
So, you may ask, what is the big deal in that ? Many other apps needs the same permission to work properly. True that. But just continue reading and I will give more arguments in subsequent paras.
The Internet Which Is Always ‘ON’
The biggest resource for surveillance is the Internet or more properly, networked devices. Since the Internet is free, we will not hesitate in keeping our data connection always ‘ON’. Now when data is always ON, we never know which app is running surveillance in background. Any app may scan through our personal messages, gallery and send it remotely to any server across the globe. Basically I am talking about spoofing. Spy app can send data in a highly compressed form, so that data consumption does not become evident to us.
The quantity of Optic Fibre Cable laid down by RJIL (Reliance Jio Infocom Limited) is enormous. Recently, I visted Nalbari, a village-city combo in the state of Assam. I was amazed to see that RJIL Optic Fibre are available in places where BSNL Optic Fibre was no where to be seen.
Unlimited Voice Call Is Perfect For Real Time Eavesdropping
Our personal data is available everywhere, Google has it, Facebook has it, WhatsApp knows a lot about us, basically our digital footprint is evident in the world wide web (WWW). The need of the hour is real time surveillance which can be known from who we talk to. Eavesdropping from the microphone of the phone becomes more simple when voice calls are free. Voice calls becomes extremely cheap in 4G because voice connection works in connection less paradigm, contrary to connection oriented paradigm in GSM.
Unlike western countries, the penetration of CCTV is not very high in India but smartphone is the best device we carry through which intended person can spy on us. Over that, if call rates becomes free and data rates becomes affordable, more smartphones are bound to sale and hence more people comes under the ambit of surveillance.
This article is my personal view and does not intend to warn anyone about anything. With digital devices, possibilities are endless. These possibilities can be good as well as bad.The intention of this article is to spread information related to digitization which are not known to a large section of people.
